Punk and Rave Influences in KIDILL’s New Fall/Winter 2025 Collection

Unveiling KIDILL’s Fall/Winter 2025-26 Collection, “Formal Anarchist,” where rebellion meets refined style in a bold expression of individuality and timeless authenticity. Hiroaki Sueyasu, the creative force behind KIDILL, taps into the vibrant spirit of late 1990s and early 2000s Harajuku, Tokyo—a time when young trendsetters challenged the status quo, blending creativity with personal expression to forge new fashion frontiers. Celebrated by iconic publications like “TUNE” and “FRUiTS,” this era continues to inspire Sueyasu’s innovative designs.

At the core of this collection is a significant collaboration with “A STORE ROBOT,” an iconic Harajuku shop established in 1982, renowned for its role in reviving Seditionaries—the essence of punk fashion. This partnership not only links the past with the present but also honors the raw, enduring spirit of punk culture.

Sueyasu’s experiences in London also weave into his work, merging punk and rave elements into an array of bold designs. The collection showcases stark color contrasts, metallic finishes, and cyberpunk influences that mirror the vibrant energy of urban streets. Camouflage patterns are revitalized with bright, unexpected accents, highlighting the rebellious spirit that once characterized Harajuku.

Another highlight of this collection is the partnership with Los Angeles artist Brett Westfall, whose playful illustrations of strawberries, punk kids, skaters, and a dog named “Snoppy” infuse the garments with whimsy and creativity. These designs appear on everything from chinos to T-shirts, capturing KIDILL’s commitment to individuality and artistic collaboration.

KIDILL’s approach goes beyond revisiting nostalgic themes. The collection reexamines the past to celebrate the creative forces that defined it, while also challenging and redefining what authenticity means today. The outcome is a line that is both familiar and refreshingly innovative, paying homage to its roots while forging a bold new path into the future.

This vision is brought to life by a talented team, including collaborations with Dr. Martens and live music by Seppuku Pistols, enhancing the collection’s rebellious vibe. The striking visuals, captured by photographers Ko Tsuchiya and Kyohei Hattori, create a unified celebration of creative defiance.

KIDILL’s “Formal Anarchist” is more than just a fashion statement. It represents a continuous reimagining of rebellion, connecting past and present dialogues, and celebrating the spirit of individuality. As we anticipate the launch of the Fall/Winter 2025-26 collection, we expect a series of designs that not only reflect the heritage of stylistic rebellion but also offer new narratives and modes of expression for today’s trendsetters.
